Attack

Attack Attack

‘Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy.” (Luke. 10:19; NKJV).

There are people who have not experienced the wickedness of the wicked. There are also folks who see no demonic involvements in some of their unfavourable experiences. Hence, they feel that the forces of darkness are unreal. But the reason why this world has become so evil today is nothing but the activities of these demonic spirits and their human agents. Children of God are expected to fight them to a standstill through ceaselessness in Word-based praying.

I used to know a man. He was a Christian but his church didn’t believe so much in what I call spiritual fight. One day we were talking along the line of ‘kinds of prayers’ and he shared his views. Actually he didn’t believe that one should direct his prayers against demons.

He didn’t understand that when the Bible says we should bind, it means to direct our prayers against demonic spirits (Matt. 18:18). To him, Christians have no business addressing demons in their prayers. And being a church person himself, he didn’t seem ready to hear anything contrary to what he believed, for that was how he was raised and taught.

Some months later, I was told that he was at home someday when he felt a strange breeze blowing towards him. He probably didn’t think it was an unusual one. Before long, he noticed that he wasn’t feeling okay. And in a twinkling, it had developed into a stroke. Sad enough, it led to his death a few days later.

It was very sad and unfortunate indeed. Everything he was saying during our previous discussion came ringing in my mind. I wished he opened his mind to the reality of evil forces and the need to stand against them. I believe he could have been alive today if he had learned to pray demon-disbanding prayers.

In the opening text of today, Jesus said he has given us the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions. Note that Jesus gives the authority. This authority is given for a purpose. What is that purpose? It’s to trample on the serpents and scorpions of darkness. Here are three questions: ‘Who gives the authority?’ ‘Who does the trampling?’ ‘What should be trampled?’ If we know the answer to these questions, then we must arise and fight confidently. The Lord’s strength is your strength. In Jesus name!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: We use our authority to paralyze the activities of the children of darkness targeted against God’s children. In Jesus mighty name!
