Blessed indeed

Blessed indeed

‘God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ…has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we belong to Christ’ (Eph. 1:3, NLT).

There are very rich families in this world. The only reason why their children became wealthy in life was that they were born into that family; and all things being equal, they can never smell poverty all the days of their lives. Meanwhile there are people who were born into poverty. To such folks, luxuries, riches or comfort is a strange phenomenon. How contrasting!

Being financially poor is bad, but to be spiritually wretched is worse. Think about it; all the wealth of the wealthiest people in this world was given by God. Not just that, all the wealth of this world represents only a negligible fraction of all that God has. To enjoy His blessings, one needs to belong to Christ by accepting Him and pursuing His purpose for one’s life.

A child is born into a very wealthy family doesn’t have a full understanding of all that belongs to him until he grows up. In this process of growth, his understanding of his richness progressively dawns on him. That’s when he can be trusted with big blessings. A wealthy father, for example, will not hand over the keys of a car to his five-year old son. In a similar manner, God doesn’t give us certain blessings until He is sure we are spiritually mature to handle them.

Have you joined the family of God? God adopts everyone who comes to Him as His own son and daughter; and each child of God is entitled to His blessings in Christ. You can become a child of God today by giving your life to Christ. Sincerely invite Him into your life. In God’s family the level of your desire to grow up determines the depth of spiritual blessings one gets. We are not poor. We belong to the one who blesses men to overflowing. May we go from one level of His blessings to another. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord help me to grow spiritually in every area where I need to. In the name of Jesus!
