Blessed ones

Blessed ones (2)

‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted’ (Matt. 5:4, NKJV).

Another group of blessed people are those who mourn. Jesus said they are blessed because they shall be comforted. To mourn is to express sadness or sorrow for a loss. To mourn is to grieve over a sad occurrence. As humans, we think that grief has no positive side. The positive side of grief is that God comforts those who mourn or grieve.

The Message Bible’s rendition of this verse gives a deeper insight: ‘You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you”. Perhaps you lost a close relative, a beloved friend or something you hold dear. The Lord will comfort you in Jesus mighty name.

There are also those whose mourning is not for personal reasons. Such people are just concerned about the worrisome state of things around us. Some Christians mourn for the church because of her so many sins. They are equally worried about the increasing level of ungodliness around us. They mourn and seek God’s face for mercy upon our land.

Are you ‘mourning’ for one reason or another? Do you carry heavy emotional loads? Does a particular thought give you pain? Does it seem like your situation is going from bad to worse? Well you might have been looking at things from the wrong perspective. It’s time to change our position and see things from God’s perspective. Only then can you receive the blessedness of divine comfort.

Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord, let those who are mourning and hurting experience your comfort. In the name of Jesus!
