Desire

Desire Desire

‘What do you want me to do for you? Jesus asked…’ (Mark 10:51, NLT).

Every man’s desire determines his outlook in life. It determines the kind of questions he asks and the kind of answers he gets. Moreso, a person’s answers to questions are also a function of his desires. One’s level of desire determines how much or how long he can endure any situation. What is a major thing you want to achieve in life? What is your most-pressing need in life? What is your greatest desire in life? What kind of impact do you want to make? What is the most significant thing you wish to be remembered for?

No matter the negativities you have experienced this year or in the previous years, you can still stir up your desire to fulfill your God-given dreams. No matter where you have failed, you can still stir up your desire for success.

The level of your desire determines the intensity of your expectations in life. Why do you think God shows us positive dreams about our future? It’s to fire up our desire. Why did God show Joseph dreams of his glorious future? It’s so that he wouldn’t settle for anything less. Why did God tell Abraham to look up at the stars and that his children shall be as uncountable as the stars? It’s so that Abraham would not settle for anything short of that.

God spoke to Joseph when he was seventeen but spoke to Abraham when he was seventy five. That you are young or old does not matter. What matters is your level of desire and faith in God. On their way to fulfilling destiny, these two people met different obstacles and challenges but they refused to give up. Instead they walked with God committedly and fulfilled their divine dreams in the end.

In our Opening Text, Jesus was asking a blind man what he wanted Him to do for him. Jesus wanted to see if this man still had great and positive desires despite all he had passed through in life. Bartimaeus would not allow his past and plight to stop him from desiring a brighter and a better future. And he got his heart’s desire because he refused to give up.

A man’s life will become what he desires it to be (Mark 11:24, KJV). So, watch the kind of things you feed your mind with; and the kind of influence you surround yourself with. If today Jesus asks you the same question that “What do you want me to do for you?”, I hope you have a meaningful answer ready? I pray, may we not give up before our divine visitation. In Jesus name!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: Foundational limitations, I am not your victim. Let me go! In the mighty name of Jesus!
