Divine Searchlight
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path (Psalm 109:105, KJV).
When we become willing and receptive to His corrections, God always enables us to find the truth about ourselves. Sometimes we may not even realise that we are already drifting away from Him because there are some aspects of our lives we can’t see without God’s help. God’s word is the light to the dark areas of our lives and together with prayer; they determine how much God’s grace will work in us.
Both of them will require that we push aside all unnecessary businesses so that we can spend quality time to personally detect the source(s) of our spiritual weakness and vulnerability. Many Christians now run after money. They wish to make spiritual progress but cannot spend a few hours with Him daily. Of a truth, the carnal nature prefers darkness to light; pleasure to spiritual discipline and vanity to reality.
Have you ever come to a point where you asked yourself when you became a spiritually weak person; start to find it convenient to keep malice with people; began to lie, gossip, steal, deceive, talk the worldly way, get angry easily or compromise your integrity because of money? Have you asked yourself what went wrong with your prayer life? Why are you no longer on fire for God? Is work a reason tenable enough for not having time to maintain spiritual fire?
Many of us have lost that zeal that makes Christians to compete in healthy exercises like prayer, fasting, consuming the Bible, evangelism and giving. Rather, the competition is now about who dresses more expensively, has more financial power or has more ‘connections’. It’s only by yielding to God that darkness can be dispelled in our lives. We need to always create time for what matters most. May all our pursuits not be in vain. In Jesus mighty name!
