Do not sell it

Do not sell itDo not sell it

How could he had been so foolish to have sold it. Why wasn’t he sensible enough to have realized the importance of it. What is food compared to his birth right!? He must have been extremely an unwise man! I know this is exactly what people said after reading Esau’s story.

Funny enough, many people who have criticized Esau do not know that they’re also guilty of the same offense. They’ve even sold something worth more than their birthright in exchange for something worth less than a morsel of pottage unknowingly to them.

Yes! The pottage had been refined and garnished, it is no more yam pottage or bean pottage as it was in Esau’s time.

  • It is now the pottage of pleasure.
  • It is now the pottage of money.
  • It now the pottage of lust/ fornication .
  • It is now the pottage of job opportunity.

And Esau said “what value is my birthright to me now, since I’m hungry to death”. This is exactly what people still say today. I know you’ve already started asking yourself ” what value is my dignity to me, since I need this job badly”. Because the employer told you, you can’t have the job except you sleep with him. Your dignity is worth far thousand more than that the value of that job.

Your classmates are driving exotic cars and you don’t even have a bicycle, shouldn’t be the reason to sell your birthright.

Esau sold what should have been a generational blessing because of a temporal situation. That your present situation isn’t permanent, do not let that situation rid you of your birthright.

  • That joblessness is temporal.
  • That poverty is only temporal.

Just because he has promised to give you an iPhone, money and other material things shouldn’t make you sell your birthright ( dignity). I tell you of a truth, you see all those things he’s promising you, it can’t be compared to one tenth of what God has in store for you.

Esau didn’t think of the future, he was only looking at his present famished state. Hope you aren’t making the same mistake Easu made? Why are you still thinking about that your present state?

The Bible says “Esau sought it with tears and found it not”. Birthright when lost is lost, it is almost or completely impossible to retrieve once lost.

  • Your birthright is so precious.
  • Your birthright is priceless.
  • Your birthright is pivotal.
  • Your birthright should be treasured.
  • Do not sell it!
