Eternity Consciousness
‘For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mark 8:36, 37; KJV).
An elderly Christian woman wanted to know if I also heard that the Rapture had taken place. According to her, a Christian brother had just informed her that there had been a lot of disappearances in certain parts of Asia without anyone knowing the whereabouts of the unseen fellows.
Well, we got to find out that that was not the rapture yet, because the rapture was not supposed to be taking place in batches. Besides, we couldnt verify the realness of the news. But I kept thinking about it. What if that was the rapture? Was I ready at that moment? Were you ready too? Meanwhile, there are some people who do not believe that this world will ever come to an end, let alone expect any rapture to take place. But the rapture is something the Scripture vividly reveals to us.
When the moment comes, the earth shall be folded up like a mat in preparation for the entry of the glorious King. The sleeping believers will arise from their slumbering place. The living Christians shall be caught up with Him in glory. And with our very eyes, we shall behold our Lord and Master. Friend, if all you are after is to gain this world please slow down a bit. Sit down and think about your life and your eternal home.
When all earthly achievements expire, the only thing that sustains man forever is his personal commitment and loyalty to Jesus. Billions of souls have come to and left this temporary abode for their permanent abodes in heaven or hell. If a man achieves everything achievable, and still loses his soul to hell, he has achieved nothing. When it comes to preparing for a place we will stay forever, the preparation can’t be too early, too engrossing or too serious. Hmm… E-t-e-r-n-i-t-y! Does this word scare or inspire you?
