Giving is living

Giving is living

The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the LORD Almighty (Haggai 2:8, NLT).

When people think or say that, ‘it’s my money’ they need to come to know that it’s actually not their money, but God’s. The Lord said, ‘the silver is mine and the gold is mine’. When He places His money in our hands, it is so that it can be a tool to help do God’s work on the earth. Proverbs 3:9 says: ‘Honour the Lord with your substance and the best part of your produce’.

Friend, giving is living, and living is giving. Everything a man has, without an exception, is given to him. So he is not the actual owner. He too therefore needs to give in order to continue to receive. Proverbs 11:24 says, ‘One man gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.

Money is actually a blessing but it has become a curse to some people. Money is not evil but the Bible says the love of money is the root of all evil (I Tim. 6:10). Money becomes dangerous when it deceives you into thinking that you can always have your own way with your money. When you trust your money for security, longevity and wellness, rather than God, it’s the beginning of troubles.

Some rich folks find it extremely difficult to help the needy. Instead they amass unnecessary wealth. They live extravagant lifestyles while someone around them cannot even afford a single meal. There are also people who don’t see it necessary to pay the tithe of their income. In fact, some folks have made up their minds not to give to God under any guise. They have forgotten that there are times when money fails and God becomes the only One who can help.

We all need to give. It is an act of faith in God and compassion for others. Giving is like a flowing current. When you let go from what you have, you get bigger and better blessings because that’s God’s ordination (Lk. 6:38). May you be blessed enough to be a blessing to others. In Jesus precious name!

Today’s corporate prayer: Holy Spirit, make me a channel of blessing. In the name of Jesus!
