Glued to the past

Glued to the past

‘…but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before’ (Philiphians 3:13, KJV).

One reason many people can’t focus on the task at hand is their attachment to the past. But then, that we’ve all made some mistakes in the past is undeniable. When you focus constantly on your weakness instead of your strength, you bring heaviness and depression on yourself.

In the same vein, when you carry the opinions of those who focus on your shortcomings, instead of what is positive about you, your spirit will always be down. Apostle Paul said he treated his past as past by forgetting them. He put behind him the fact that, before his conversion, he had bound, afflicted, jailed and killed Christians.

How was he able to overcome his past? He understood that God had already forgiven him and forgotten those sins. He also made the choice to do all he needed to do to become all that God wanted him to be. He surrendered himself to be used by God and pursued his purpose with all his strength.

If sincerely you already asked God to forgive you, then, he has forgiven you! Don’t allow the devil’s condemnation to put you down. He will constantly try to put you down but you must not allow him to succeed at it. God is working on you. You are his project. He won’t abandon you. So forgive yourself, forgive others and then, press on gallantly!

Today’s corporate prayer: Bondage of darkness, release my spirit man. In Jesus mighty name!
