Hating Hatred
If you hate each other, you are murderers, and we know murderers do not have eternal life (I John 3:15, CEV).
Dislike. Aversion. Antipathy. Hostility. Enmity. Those are other names by which hatred is called. The word of God equates hatred with murder. Think about that! How does it feel to belong to the same class as murderers or assassins? Terrible, isn’t it? But that’s exactly what hatred does to anyone who allows it in his heart.
Hatred starts as something small, which, if not uprooted; will grow, become stronger and mature into something worse. Someone could have offended or slighted you. You might have been harshly spoken to. You could have been treated disrespectfully or unkindly. Yet hatred is a ‘No! No!’
Hatred manifests in the form of what you think of others, what you say about them, what you do to them or what you choose to believe about them. Is there a person whose presence irritates you? Is there somebody you don’t wish well? Is there someone you have vowed not to forgive?
Hatred is not a light thing. It takes being yielded to the Holy Spirit through prayers and the word of God to love instead of hate. The more time you spend in prayer and meditation on God’s word, the stronger you become to overcome all Satan’s works, including hatred. I pray, may the plantation of strives and animosity be uprooted in our lives. In Jesus name!
Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord, help me to overcome every manifestation of hatred in my life. In the mighty name of Jesus!
