Hold
‘Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown’ (Revelation 3:11 NKJV).
God is the Alpha and the Omega of life. He knows the beginning and end of all things. He knows all of His creations. He knows everyone living presently on the earth. He knows you and me. He knows your past and what you have been through. He knows where you are now and He has a purpose for your future even before you were born. You are not here by accident. There is a purpose you were meant to fulfill here on earth, which was the reason why God made you.
In the opening text of today, we see that we need to hold fast to that which God has given us, which is His call upon our lives. Failing to hold fast to one’s divine gift means to lose one’s crown to another. Being urged to hold fast to it shows that there is the possibility of losing it. And perhaps you have already lost it, it’s not too late to recover it.
You ought to be you and not a photocopy of someone else. The particular way God has equipped, built and trained you is not a matter of chance. God cannot give you excellent ability in one thing when He expects you to be something else.
Is there something God has been showing you consistently in your dreams? What is that thing that makes people to see a great value in you? What is that thing that you can sacrifice your money, time and energy to pursue? You need to prayerfully ask God to empower you and show you how to go about fulfilling your calling. No one can overcome all his obstacles until he has surrendered himself to what God wants him to be.
A lot of people have yet to discover their purpose and calling. So how can one hold fast to what he is yet to discover? A lot of people will miss their crown simply because they aim at nothing. And expectedly, they achieve nothing.
A lot of people are still lazying their destiny away with procrastination, drinking, smoking, TV, spending their time on things that don’t comply with their calling or worse still, regretting about their past mistakes or disappointments. Beloved, no matter how dark your past is, your future is brighter. Discover and hold on to your purpose tightly. May we not miss our crowns in life. In Jesus name!
