I’m going through

I’m going through

Acts 20:24 – But none of these things moved me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

On this journey to heaven, steadfast determination and sacrificial consecration is among the prerequisite for successful pilgrimage.

Many who though at first began the race with much fervor and passion, later fall away.

Because they could not endure sound doctrine, they could not bear the heat of the burning and consuming fire of holiness, they could not stand the hammer of the word of God that strikes hard at sin; and so because of that, they retreated, and were taken over by the Wicked one.

It is so certain, that the road is rough. Our Lord even said it is so narrow. We know there are much dangers along the way, many lions which providence allows for the test of faith, many weariness, discouragements, and fear that will want to make pilgrims retrench; but he that overcometh shall inherit all things.

And them who are fixed on getting to heaven, will assuredly face temptation that may want to drag them out of righteousness, persecutions that will want to weaken them, revilings, mockings, and even strong criticism that Satan thinks will suffice to discourage them; but he that endures to the end shall be saved.

Our Lord, when he was about to be received up, steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, despising the shame: for he saw the joy that was set before him.

We too are to be so firm, and say, whatever happens, I’m going through. Seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, I will not allow the smile or frown on somebody’s face to determine my getting to heaven.

This gift of salvation I have received from the Lord, and the gift of sanctification, he has wrought in my heart, I will not exchange it for anything. And I will keep the seal, and lift up the banner of holiness without which no man shall see the Lord all along my pilgrim journey.

And when at the golden portal I am standing, all my tribulations, all my sorrows past; how sweet to hear the blessed proclamation, Enter faithful servant, welcome home at last.

I’m going through, I’m going through, I’ll pay the price whatever others do; I’ll take the way with the Lord’s despised few, I’m going through, Jesus, I’m going through.
