Partiality leads to division
Isaac’ s decision to bless Esau was not fatherly but selfish. Isaac preferred Esau because he enjoyed eating the animals killed by Esau. His affection was “give and take.” Hope you are not helping only those that can help you?
Rebecca also demonstrated her partial love for Jacob because he was always assisting her in kitchen. The family was divided.
Isaac decided to bless Esau but Rebecca helped Jacob to get the blessing. When Esau realised his blessing has been stolen by Jacob, he decided to kill Jacob. Guilt was registered in the family and it led to eternal division between the descendants of Jacob and Esau.
Genesis 36:12 one of the sons Esau gave birth to was Amelek. Esau told his children the story of how he was cheated by Jacob. Ever since then, the two families have never been friends
Exodus 17:8-16
The Amalekites attacked the Israelites at Raphidim from the rear when the Israelites were tired and exhausted, and killed all the Israelites who were straggling behind. Why did they attack the Israelites and killed them? They were told how Jacob robbed Esau.
2. Judges 6:1-6
The Amalekites united with the Midianites to punish the Israelites. They didn’t kill Israelite but were just destroying their crops so that they will starve to death. why the punishment? The partiality displayed by Isaac and Rebecca
3. Esther 3:1-15
Haman plots to destroy the Jews. Haman was the son of Hammedatha, a descendant of Agag. Agag was an Amalekites king. Ever since there fore-father, Esau, told them what Jacob did to him, his people (Amalekites) were traditional enemies of Israel.
Why will Haman want to destroy the Jews? He was ready to offer 375 tons of silver into the royal treasury just to have all the Israelites killed. Why will he go to that extent? FAMILY DIVISION
The partiality in Isaac’s family created family division lasting a life time.
As we have read, we must desist from being partial in our families.
Dad and Mum, love all your children equally. Do not love the male child more than the female child. it’s dangerous, you can cause a division in your family that could last for centuries.
Maybe a prophet has told you that the last born is the one that will take good care of you in the future, that doesn’t mean you should turn other children like slaves. stop it today, don’t break the unity in your family.
As the boss, treat all your staff equally.
As a teacher, treat all your students equally.
As a child, treat your parents equally, don’t love your mother more than your father.
As landlord, treat all tenants equally. Also don’t rent your house to only members of your tribe, religion or church.
I pray the enemy will not cause division in your family and all divided homes will be united again in Jesus name.
