Solemn warning
…the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned…(Psalm 19:9-11, KJV).
Not so many of us like being warned. It is just natural to us. Warnings look like obstacles to our liberty. We don’t want to be told what to do, we just want to do things how we want, where we want and when we want them.
But God’s warnings were meant to prevent us from the consequences of wrong actions and decisions. If for example we ignore basic hygiene principles, we get ill and fall sick. If we go against simple safety rules, accidents and injuries may result.
The word of God in Prov. 29:1 says: ‘He, who being often reproved, hardens his neck shall suddenly be destroyed – and that without remedy (AMP). The English people say ‘to be forewarned is to be forearmed’.
Why do people ignore God’s warnings? It’s because they love darkness more than light. They love carnality more than spirituality. Once you start to identify with God, unspiritual people will start to distance themselves from you. Why? The sin in them feels threatened. They feel your life or words are warnings to them. But God even warns His children so that they won’t perish with this world.
Dear friend, God is warning you to depart from sin and unbelief. The wages of sin is death but God’s gift for you is eternal life through Jesus Christ (Rom. 6:23). May God help you to take heed. In Jesus name!
