Staying in touch (2)

Staying in touch (2)

When you said, Seek my face, My heart said to you, Your face LORD, I WILL SEEK (Psalm 27:8, NKJV).

Fellowshipping with God shows that we really know that He is real, near, cares about us and will fulfill His promises to us. Our fellowship with Him gradually creates in us the conviction that we have nowhere else to go, and that our own wisdom is not wise enough to give us the victory we desire. It is actually true that the more we pray the less we’ll panic. We’ll also feel less pressured and more patient.

If God’s presence really matters to you; and if you realize that God is not an option in your life; the way you handle your fellowship with Him will reflect it. The truth is, we make out time for what we love, the people we love and for the things we consider most rewarding.

It is possible to get so caught up in our works, jobs, career pursuit, other activities or even God’s work that we unconsciously lose touch with God. If you are not sensitive you won’t even notice that the duration of time you spend in God’s presence has started dropping; or your zeal in the place of prayer has started waning. You may still have the ‘form’ of it but the ‘substance’ could have been gone. At such, there is need for restoration.

Jesus said in John 15:3 (NIV), ‘You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you’. Without receiving God’s word in our daily fellowship with Him, we get ‘dirty’, ‘smelly’ and ‘repulsive’. That’s when you easily get angry, upset, impatient and abusive. You may not want to do it, but you soon find yourself acting rudely to others and lacking the capacity to contain the devil. I pray, may we not be severed from our very source of grace. In Jesus mighty name!

Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord, help us to continually pursue your presence and power. In the name of Jesus!
