Tenacious Demand

Tenacious Demand

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you (Mathew 7:7, KJV).

There are two characters involved in today’s opening text. The first and the second characters are the ‘asker’ and the ‘giver’; the ‘seeker’ and the ‘one who makes finding possible’; the ‘knocker’ and the ‘opener’. The two characters here represent man and God respectively.

Jesus created the impression that prayer can be compared to these three actions. But then, man’s actions must come first in the form of asking, seeking and knocking. More often than not, these actions trigger God’s intervention.

And mind you, it is not a once-and-for-all affair. It must be continual. Don’t forget that the Bible says to ‘pray continually’ (I Thesalonians 5:17, NIV). As a matter of fact, the NLT version of today’s Bible verse says: ‘Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened.’

Did you notice the continuous tense? Should we stop, having knocked once or twice? No! The Bible talks about ‘praying… and watching thereunto with all perseverance…’ (See Ephesians 6:18, KJV). Perseverance is what it takes to follow through prayer until it is answered. So, don’t stop asking, seeking and knocking; for your answer is closer to you than you think. I pray, may you not give up at the edge of your breakthrough. In Jesus mighty name!

Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord, cure any prayer epilepsy, working against my spiritual life. In Jesus mighty name!
