The God Given Joy

The God Given Joy like I prefer to call it or what people generally refer to as the joy of the Lord is an awesome experience that believers constantly enjoy on a daily basis.

Eclessiastes 9:7, “Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.”

Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”

The kind of Joy God Gives

The God Given Joy is a very deeply rooted kind of happiness inspired solely and powered by the Holy Spirit Himself. It withstands trials and storms. The God Given Joy thrives both in favorable and unfavorable situations.

Indeed, it’s very amazing how God fills His people with so much joy even in the midst of chaos, difficulties and unpleasant situations. God’s ways are indeed past finding out. He just has the ability to recreate enabling environments for His children to thrive in.

The environment that God creates, is beyond the physical environment. This is the reason a Christian (or “a believer” as I usually like to call those who believe in Jesus Christ) who doesn’t have much or nothing (based on human judgment) to be happy or joyful about, yet is constantly filled with so much joy every second of the day.

Nevertheless, it’s not unusual to have the devil try what he can to dissuade you at these times. He will probably remind you of the areas in life you’ve failed, or the things you’re struggling with, or of your short comings. Those are simply his antics! Don’t ever let him rob you of your joy. Instead shut his voice out with joyful words and songs of worship to God. This gets God feeling like He’s got another Job (the only man, whom God ever openly bragged about) in you. Don’t ask me how I know but put yourself in God’s shoes and you should be able to tell.

The fact is that, God loves it when His children remain joyful at all times in spite of unfavorable situations surrounding them. It shows God that we trust Him absolutely.

The Spiritual and Physical Benefits of Being Joyful

Aside, always maintaining a joyful and positive disposition towards God because of all the spiritual blessings attached to it. There are many physical and even health benefits associated with being happy or joyful always.

  • Being happy or joyful fosters better relationships: It’s only natural for someone who constantly carry a fair (happy) countenance or exudes only positive vibes always to be able to reach out to people more easily than someone who doesn’t.

Lately, the Holy Spirit has been teaching me the importance of this. And I’m glad there is an ongoing transformation in my life.

  • Being happy or joyful promotes healthy lifestyle: Scientific evidence suggests that being happy may have major benefits for one’s health. For starters, it reduces stress level, boosts the immune system, promotes a healthy lifestyle. What’s more, it may even increase one’s life expectancy. So, being joyful like I prefer to call it, is a complete win win state of mind.

In conclusion, I would say that, our earthly possessions and accomplishments, even the people in our lives, are some of the blessings that make us happy and fuel our joy. However, the source of true joy, is Jesus Christ . He helps us navigate through difficult situations in the absence of happiness, while sustaining our joy. Is there joy lacking in your life today? Turn to Jesus and enjoy the God Given Joy which He offers.
