The mind gate

The mind gate

‘And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, thay ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God’ (Rom. 12:2, KJV).

Man is actually a spirit being who has a soul and lives in a house called body. When he becomes saved, his spirit is regenerated and he becomes a new creature (II Cor. 5:17). From that moment he always wants to please God. But then his emotions struggles with Godliness. His body also wants to do things that not only gratify the flesh but also displease God. This leads to a serious conflict in his soul realm called the mind.

The desires of man are not fixed because his mind is constantly influenced by both Godly and ungodly forces. And, mind you, being a Christian doesn’t mean that your mind won’t want to think some sinful thoughts. But when such thoughts come, you should overcome or dismiss them by confronting them with God’s word.

As a Christian, you shouldn’t allow your mind to think whatever it wants to think. If you learn to feed regularly on God’s word, your spirit will be empowered to subdue unwholesome thoughts. If sinful thoughts are not subdued, they get a stronghold in you and eventually make you lose your connection with God. When this happens, all forms of tragedies strike as door is opened for satanic oppression. But it all begins in the mind.

Is your mind constantly under the attack of worry, discouragement, anger, bitterness, grudges, and so on? Sometimes, the devil simply brings a past offense to your memory, reminding you of how badly someone mistreated you. If you don’t shut the devil up by God’s word, he goes on to suggest to you how to get even with the offender. In the end one could miss out on a special blessing that was to come his way.

The mind is a serious battle ground. Only when your spirit is tuned to the frequency of the Holy Spirit through the scriptures and prayers can you overcome the devil’s attacks. To achieve this, you must not allow day-to-day activities to eat into your time of personal fellowship with God. May God’s power strengthen your mind against this devil’s invasion. In Jesus name!
