What Are The Spiritual Implications of Anger?

The Bible describes anger as something that resides in the bosom of fools. No one likes to associate with a fool. Anger is marked by gross irrationality. That’s what makes you act in an unwise manner when you’re angry.

Although, the consequences of anger are usually huge, the spiritual implications far outweighs its physical.

Proverbs 14:16-17, “A wise man fears the LORD and shuns evil, but a fool is hotheaded and reckless. A quick-tempered man does foolish things, and a crafty man is hated.”

Ecclesiastes 7:9, “Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.”

Psalm 37:8, “Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.”

First, anger is never a good thing. God practically hates it and sees those who get easily irritated, grumpy or resort to anger as unwise.

Secondly, it’s extremely difficult to do the right in a state of rage. Thus, emotions overtake reasoning when anger sets in. And one is bound to act irrationally and make bad decisions in a fit of anger. Consequently, it spoils blessings, opportunities as well as relationships.

Has it ever occurred to you that, we do a lot of emotional and sometimes physical damage to others when we are angry. Although, we may repent from our outbursts later however, the emotional scar created due to harsh words spoken, doesn’t get healed even in a lifetime in some cases.

The Dangerous Truth About Anger

The terrible truth about anger  is the fact that it can deprive one from actually making Heaven. Anger is a spirit, but I like to refer to it as a demon. And many are victims of this demon. It has robbed many of good opportunities in life.

There are spiritual implications when one reacts in a state of anger. These implications are far deeper than one can possibly imagine.

Some of the Spiritual Implications of Anger

1. It Makes One Spiritually Vulnerable

The devil has wide access into a person’s life when  one is consumed by fury and is acting on it. In addition, the demon anger opens the door of one’s life to other demons at the moment one is throwing a fit.

2. It destroys One’s Spiritual Labours

Anger is a waster of spiritual labours. It simply takes one back to square one in the spiritual cadre. This gets all the effort put into spiritual growth wasted.

2.  It Distances One From God

The gap between one who constantly gets angry and God will only keep widening until the Holy Spirit takes His leave from such a life.

3.  Making Heaven Might Be Impossible

Anger has a great capacity to deprive one from actually making heaven. If it will be difficult for an average Christian who doesn’t have anger issues to make heaven, then it could be much more difficult for someone constantly battling with anger.  I speak from the angle of the few occasions where I missed the rapture in my dream due to issues that emanated from anger.

In sum, anger is part of the Adamic nature and if we must run the race set before us successfully up to the FINISH LINE (heaven) then we need to prayerfully deal with this spirit.
