Worried by Worries
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:34, NKJV).
Fatigue, irritability, high blood pressure, depression and confusion are some of the problems that worry brings into the life of man. While it is true that a lot of things call for our concern, Christians are encouraged not to allow worry in their lives.
Someone said worry is faith in the negative. To give in to worry is to have faith in the negative. To give in to worry is to torture one’s emotions and damage one’s health. Your worry magnifies the problem and undermines God’s power to handle your situation.
Worry doesn’t change anything. Rather it complicates issues. The more we stay focused on God’s power, the faster worry loses its hold on us. But to focus on God’s power, our prayer life and study of God’s word must be taken seriously. The Bible says instead of worrying we should pray about everything.
We are to tell God what we need and thank Him for all He has done. And doing this will make you experience God’s peace which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus (Philipians 4:6,7, NLT). We all need to overcome worry. And it isn’t overcome by doing nothing. We must be spiritually strong to overpower it. May God help us. In Jesus mighty name!
