Wounded

Wounded Wounded

‘…He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities…’ (Isaiah 53:5; NKJV).

Do you know what it means to be wounded – physically and emotionally? I doubt if anyone could explain it better than Jesus. The people amongst whom He opened blind eyes, unstopped dumb tongues, opened deaf ears, healed the sick, destroyed satanic bondages, fed crowds supernaturally and did all manners of miraculous works rejected Him before Governor Pilate. What callousness! What a betrayal! Of a truth, He was brutally wounded!

As if that was not enough, His disciples who were taught by Him for over three years all deserted Him after His arrest. The only one who managed to follow Him from afar denied ever having anything to do with Him. He was manhandled. He was beaten like a criminal until His veins were pierced.

A crown of thorns was pushed into His head. Shouts of “Crucify him!” filled the air. A murderer was set free while the righteous was sentenced to death! He kept enduring it all as He waited for the final moment.

Then He was nailed to the cross and suspended between the heaven and the earth. The chief priests, scribes and elders mocked Him, saying: “He saved others but cannot save himself.”

One of the two thieves also gave Him a piece of his mind: “If you are truly the Son of God, save yourself and us.” Not even the passers-by spared Him: “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself.” He was rejected by men and forsaken by God. Later, with his last strength, He proclaimed: “It is finished!”

In other words, it is accomplished. From that moment till now, Jesus’ glory and exaltation has been beyond description (Philippians 2:5-11). Our victory today as Christians came through that cross that He endured.

Are you too in a season of darkness and confusion? Do you experience rejection where you expect acceptance? Were you forsaken by the ones you trusted? Are you suffering for a sin you never committed? Was there a conspiracy to pull you down? Are you being mocked or ridiculed? Are some forces trying to frustrate your every move or attack your source of joy?

Are you tired of living in sin as an enemy of Christ? Listen! His glory and exaltation shall perfect all that concerns you if you surrender to Him today. I pray; this season shall mark the end of your troubles and troublers. In the Mighty name of Jesus!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: My troubles and troublers; expire today. In Jesus mighty name!
