Failure, not final

‘And the Lord said, Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren (Luke 22:31,32, NKJV).

Some people believe that Christians cannot fail. How wrong they are! Christians can indeed fall. Peter believed he would never fail but he failed God monumentally! When we gave our lives to Christ, we were born again. But then, our desires, will and some aspects of our mind must also become transformed and be in alignment with the word of God. During this process, struggling in certain areas of our spiritual lives is inevitable. But it doesn’t mean you are not saved. It simply means you need to mature in the things of the Spirit.

There’s another factor to consider. Both Judas and Peter betrayed their Master, Jesus. But what’s the difference between both of them? They both felt bad for what they did but it was only Judas that gave up on himself. He probably couldn’t believe that he could be forgiven due to the height of his sin. If he repented and sought for restoration, he would have gotten it because Christ already instructed Peter that when he’s restored he should strengthen his brethren (Judas inclusive).

We learn something here. When we fail, God uses us and our experience(s) to help others who are within the coverage of our influence. That was what happened to Peter. God sometimes allows us to pass through some experiences so that we can help others that might be passing through or will pass through similar circumstances. So our failure is turned to success as we help others by the same grace that restored us after failing.

Beloved friend, no matter how greatly you missed it, God has not given up on you. The word of God says God will not despise a broken and a contrite heart (Psalm 51: 17). Don’t pay attention to satanic discouragement or insensitive discouragers but be inspired by the fact that God has not given up on you! Don’t remain on the ground. The Lord will help you. Therefore, arise and shine! In Jesus mighty name!
