God’s redemption plan (3)

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16, KJV).

The last part of our Opening text says ‘…should not perish but have everlasting life’. Two things are involved here. The first thing is that we are delivered from something – peril – and introduced into another thing – everlasting life. Peril talks about death and eternal separation from God. Jesus told some people that they would die in their sins unless they turned to Him and believed in Him (John 8:24).

What He meant was that unless a man receives eternal life, he would pass from this world to eternity, dead in his sins. Have you thought of it that earthly life tends to death? Even in sciences, a major characteristic of life (living things) is death. If it cannot die, it wasn’t living in the first place. Man and animals are going ‘death-ward’. Fruits and vegetables are in a state of death. They may look fresh and good, but they are perishing. Soon they will go bad and become corrupt. Gradually they will rot away. In short, the moment they were severed from the tree, they were gone.

And so is man. Forget about appearances, handsomeness, beauty, riches, eloquence, charisma, intelligence, education, popularity, connection or assets. You are already dead and right now perishing, unless you are grafted into God and quickened into Life through Jesus. God wants you saved; hence He offers you everlasting life. Will you have it or remain in the state of death? Don’t forget; whosoever believeth in Jesus will not perish but has everlasting life. If you have not made it, may God help you to make this most important decision. In Jesus mighty name!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: O Lord, we ask that your power of redemption locate lost souls and draw them into salvation. In Jesus mighty name!
