Handling Criticisms

We must keep our eyes on Jesus… (Hebrews 12:2, CEV)

It is good to be receptive to positive criticisms, but you should not allow the impression of people who do not see anything good in you to make you think less of yourself. It appears like some folks are just interested in magnifying your ‘wrongs’.

You might not hear much from them when you are doing things right. But when you go wrong, all hell would be let loose! Sometimes, unnecessary and unhealthy criticisms come from someone or some people who believe it is their duty to scrutinize your actions and intents. It is actually very disheartening to be dealing with some folks who have made up their minds to always see you from their negative angle of view.

How should you handle dispiriting criticisms? Keep your eyes on Jesus. Stay close to him. Pursue your God-given vision. Shut distractions and discouragement out of your mind. Comfort yourself with the fact that while men look at faces God looks at hearts.

Perhaps people misunderstand your struggles and perspective about some issues. That should not stop you from pursuing what you have a divine leading to do. Perhaps your best efforts to overlook many things are taken for granted. You must keep on all the same. Every glorious destiny must expect unimaginable criticisms. If you persevere and focus on your pursuits, the Lord will help you and you will prevail. I pray, may you not be so discouraged as to succumb to self-made critics. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: I discourage all my discouragement. In the mighty name of Jesus!
