How disciplined are you?

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection… (I Corinthians 9:27, KJV).

Self-discipline helps one to become the best version one can be. Self-discipline is actually not a destination but a journey. If continually cultivated, it is something that makes one better and better; and if shunned, makes one go from bad to worse. Being devoid of self-discipline is easily observed when you lack enough commitment to complete something you started. Having lots of unfinished tasks shows lack of self-discipline.

Lateness to duty point is another major indicator of lack of self-discipline. Poor planning is what brings about hastiness most of the time. If you don’t take out time to plan, and if you don’t set your priorities, you will always have issues with orderliness and promptness. And without them, forget about self-discipline.

Self-indulgence is another pointer to lack of self-discipline. When too much of food, sleep, idleness, entertainment or talking has gained control over you, you lack self-discipline. If you also find it difficult to accept correction from those who love and care about you, you are not ready for self-discipline. With time, we all get older but not necessarily wiser. While the wise ones have learnt to embrace self-discipline and wise up with time, the unwise ones haven’t. I pray, may we receive the grace for self-discipline. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: Holy Ghost Fire, turn me to burning fire. In the name of Jesus!
