My Secret Sin (Part 3)

I was still smiling to myself when I heard a voice very loud and clear. It said, “DO YOU THINK YOU CAN BE SAVED BY WORKS? I was shocked because the voice was so clear, I knew this wasn’t my imagination or something else. I was confused because I saw the works I was doing for God working for me yet this voice was asking if I think I would be saved by works.

I dropped the broom I was holding, looked around the church premises at least to see if the voice came from outside but I didn’t find anyone. I was totally confused, nonetheless, I knew it was working for me. Anyways, I went back into the church, took the broom and continued sweeping. Few minutes later, the other ushers came and joined me to sweep the church and arrange the chairs. Afterwards, I went to the choir stand to join the other choristers.

After our song ministrations that day, I left the choir stand and went to the congregation to assist the ushers as well. After church service that day, I went home partly joyful and partly sad. I was joyful because I felt I was finally free from this dirty sin, however, I was sad because I couldn’t recover from the voice I heard at the church.

What should I do now, I thought to myself. should I stop the works? But I said NO, God wouldn’t tell me to stop working in his vineyard. Hence, I made up my mind to continue working for God. Despite the fact that it wasn’t easy for me, I still encouraged myself and forged on.

Amazingly, two weeks passed and I hadn’t committed this sin. Consequently, I told myself that I was going to continue being extra busy for God! At this point, I had concluded that it was the only way out for me. Little did I know that I was making such a huge mistake. Exactly one month later, some thing very terrible happened.
