Sincerely wrong

So he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”(I Kings 19:10, NKJV).

Believing something without proving it is part of our day-to-day life. Men naturally follow their assumptions. But spiritually sensitive people are always careful about their assumptions because they know it could lead them to errors and troubles.

Until God opens the eyes of a man’s understanding, he may continue to be misled by his wrong assumptions. The devil at times too takes advantage of man’s wrong assumptions to suggest things to man that will make him believe something that is not true.

Many people are glued to some wrong assumptions. They allow the devil to mount a negative belief mechanism in their lives. This drains them of their joy and courage; leaving them exhausted and down.

Some people assume that their problem cannot be solved by anybody, not even by God! Many assume that their lives can never get any better. In our opening text, Prophet Elijah assumed that he was the only spiritual giant left in Israel but God proved him wrong. Our assumptions may be logical and seem right. We might have drawn conclusions based on our observations. But we may still be wrong all the same.

So we need to constantly depend on the Holy Spirit to guide us; and without being in constant fellowship with Him, that may be difficult. When we get into deep prayer, like Elijah did, all our wrong assumptions will be shattered by the illumination of the Holy Spirit which helps us to see the truth. And without such revelations, falling into error remains unavoidable. I pray, may the Lord destroy our ignorance. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: I bind every wrong assumption that is holding my spiritual life captive and hindering my progress. In Jesus name!
