A Clean Slate

Great is his faithfulness, his mercies begin afresh each day (Lamentation 3:23, NLT).

It’s a new month! It’s a new year! And it’s a new decade! It’s a new beginning and an opportunity to start afresh. Each new season is actually a clean slate as far as the mercy of God is concerned.

Despite your faults and your shortcomings in the previous year, you can actually ask for God’s mercy and forgiveness. And being gracious, He will have mercy on you. The Lord said: “Come now and let us reason together… though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18, KJV).

After this process, he no longer sees any trace of sin in you. He sets you free from the burdens of sin and your past failures. This is to enable you have a fresh beginning.

‘The Lord will perfect that which concerns you, because his mercy endures forever’, says Psalm 138:8. There is a need to reach out to God for mercy as this new journey begins. We are encouraged to come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and to find grace to help us when we need it (Hebrews 4:16). You have started well. I pray; you shall end it well. In Jesus name!
