Managing Adversity

Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident (Psalm 27:3, KJV).

Negative circumstances are sometimes unavoidable but the way we manage them say a lot about our spiritual perspective. People respond to adverse situations in diverse ways. A group of people becomes bitter and angry. Another group resorts to alcoholism and partying. Some withdraw from people while others transfer their aggression to their spouses, children or anyone around them.

To certain people this is when discouragement sets in. In some cases people give up on God and become extremely irritable. Others stop socializing or attending church programmes. They even go as far as sliding back into deep worldliness. They resort to a life of ungodlinessungodliness. Some, in a bid to ‘get even’ with God, will go into intentional sins just to show God that they are highly disappointed in Him. The reality is that there is no future in the past. No matter what has happened in the past, God still have positive plans for your future.

As far as God is concerned no situation is irredeemable. So no one needs to become negative or sadistic. God has not forgotten you at all. That you are still alive is enough evidence that He’s not yet through with you. You just need to prayerfully and consciously cultivate positive mindset through meditation on God’s word.

No matter the level of hostility or enmity surrounding you, the Lord has assured your victory. Courage is a choice, so is timidity. Positivity is a choice, so is negativity. As a child of God you have the power to manage your life well if you will allow the Holy Spirit to help you. I pray; may you experience a positive turnaround. In Jesus mighty name!

Todays corporate prayer: I connect to divine courage and strength through the word of God! In the mighty name of Jesus!
