Not beyond reach

‘And remember, the Lord is waiting so that people have time to be saved…. (II Peter 3:15, NLT).

Sometimes we wonder why God hasn’t destroyed assassins, ritual killers, kidnappers, murderers, terrorists, suicide bombers, abductors, armed robbers, witches, wizards, sorcerers, occult persons, haters, backstabbers, and the likes. The simple answer is, God does not want ‘…anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance’ (II Peter 3:9, NIV).

Today we have true ministers of the gospel and fine Christians who formerly were part of the examples of the enemies of God and humanity listed above. And God forgave them because he loves to see everyone come to repentance.

That a person was deeply into sin yesterday does not mean that he cannot be a saint today. That someone was ‘bad’ last year does not mean he can’t be good this year. Can you think of someone – a friend, neighbour or family – who needs to be saved; and then, pray for his or her salvation?

He might have even hurt you before now, or she may not seem to deserve any prayer or concern. But God takes ‘….no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live…’ (Ezekiel 33:11, NIV). We are of God and we ought to be like him (See I John 4:6). So specifically pray for at least one ‘sinner’ today!

Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord; empower your word among us. Let it break the yokes of darkness. In Jesus mighty name!
