Sustained fire

Keep on praying (I Thesalonians 5:17, NLT).

One of the hardest works in Christianity is prayer. The bane of the believers of today is prayerlessness. The greatest injury the devil has inflicted on Christianity is the weakening of Christians’ prayer lives. He is fully aware that praying Christians are havocs to his kingdom. If we don’t think we should pray better than we are doing, how can we even ask the Holy Spirit to teach us how to? How can he show us the things that cripple our prayer lives?

The devil infiltrates into the prayer lives of many Christians through various means. Some of us are overly busy with daily jobs and businesses. Some who are not so busy with jobs are too occupied with what’s happening on the various social media platforms. There are those that get so busy with their ministerial assignments that they no longer have as much time as required for great effectiveness. Some can’t actually explain why they are not praying as they ought to; because they have enough time to draw very close to God if only they desire to.

Not praying enough or praying only when you start having challenges is tantamount to prayerlessness. When one no longer finds praying interesting or when the time one spends praying keeps dropping, prayerlessness has crept in. When you don’t pray at midnight, and don’t pray in the morning before heading out for the day’s activities; prayerlessness has taken over the driving wheel of the vehicle of your life!

When prayerlessness is now in charge one gets upset easily; prays with divided mind; loses fervency in prayer; becomes addicted to food; loses interest in fasting; one can only pray for a few minutes before losing interest to continue; one’s dream life becomes confusing, meaningless and scary and ones loses faith in the efficacy of prayer. Prayerlessness is a dangerous enemy indeed. You need to stop it so it doesn’t stop you. I pray; the Lord will help us to be decisive about adjusting our schedules so that we can be on fire again. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord, increase my prayer fire. In the name of Jesus!
