Accessing discretion (2)

Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices (II Corinthians 2:11, KJV).

Today some people do not believe that the devil is real. They say it is a mindset thing to believe that evil is real. But Jesus made us to know that we have an enemy we must tread on (Luke 10:19). You hardly see anyone joking with snakes and scorpions, do you? Apostle Peter too warned us about our adversary. He said: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (I Pt. 5:8).

It takes discretion and discernment to find out the natural, psychological and spiritual angle to many life’s challenges. The truth is that most problems have their roots in the spiritual. When the spiritual aspect of a problem is unrelentingly addressed, one’s prayers will take care of the physical and psychological dimensions of such a problem.

Undiscerning people always want to address spiritual battles with a natural or psychological approach only. No physical weapons can handle the spiritual aspect of life’s battles. The Bible says we should resist the devil, standing firm on the faith… (I Pt. 5:9); praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication, and to keep alert with all perseverance…’ (Eph. 6:18).

Discernment takes grace to manifest in any life. But one must boldly, consistently and expectantly come to the throne of grace in the place of prayers to receive it (See Heb. 4:16). I pray that the Lord will make us continually discerning at this critical time. In Jesus mighty name!
