Accessing discretion

My son… keep sound wisdom and discretion: So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble (Proverb 3:21-23, KJV).

Discretion is being able to differentiate between Godly and ungodly, right and wrong, important and trivial.  It helps to interpret situations properly and understand if the motives of certain people around you are right or wrong.

Without discretion, a person’s existence will be purposeless and his exertions will yield little or nothing. Truly, being busy makes one look important, but without finding time to thoroughly evaluate his performance, man may not discern if he’s actually experiencing progress or retrogression.

Beloved, when was the last time you evaluate your life in line with your divine purpose? When was the last time you secluded yourself from everyone; just to be alone with God and ask Him to tell you if you are actually where He wants you to be; or to show you where He wants you be spiritually? Over-busyness often takes away the time we need for God to develop real spiritual growth in us. It robs us the opportunity of reflection, heart examination and true discretion.

Beloved, reflect on today’s opening text again. Do you want safety, divine guidance and grace? Then, you must regularly make out time to receive the benefits of discretion at the feet of the Master. I pray, receive the grace of discretion. In Jesus name!
