Divinely appointed

I have put my words in your mouth (Jeremiah 1:9, NKJV).

Here, God’s word came to Jeremiah. God told him: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations (Jer. 1:5, NIV). He said to Jeremiah: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you… When you were still in ‘heaven’, so to say, God already knew you. Before your mother knew she was carrying you in her womb, He already knew you. In fact before your parents’ gametes got fused together, God already knew everything about you. As you were growing up, He was constantly guiding you just to lead you into what He formed you to be.

Then He said, “…before you were born I set you apart…” This means He has separated you for a unique purpose. He has picked you out and distinguished you for a specific assignment. That’s why you won’t just be satisfied doing anything different from this task. God becomes your only and ultimate satisfaction. No place or company of friends will be able to satisfy your intense desire to fulfill this great commission. This is the reason you won’t just fit into men’s designs or expectations no matter how seriously you want to.

And lastly, He said …I appointed you… God has appointed you according to His own designs for your life. You do not have to trouble yourself so much about who will believe in you or those that won’t do so. Jeremiah was afraid some people might stand against him. So he told God: …I can’t speak for you! I’m too young! (Jer. 1:6, NLT). But God told him not to say that: “…you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and take care of you…” (Jer. 1:7,8, NLT).

Beloved, God knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb. He set you apart for something. Have you discovered your calling? Have you taken time (maybe days or weeks) to be alone with Him so you can discover what He made you to be? Do you know what He appointed you to be? You were not made to be someone else. God has made you to be you.

Today’s Corporate Prayer: I receive the grace to enter into God’s design for my life. In Jesus mighty name!
