When hope is gone

The terrible storm raged unabated for many days, blotting out the sun and the stars, until at last all hope was gone (Acts 27:20, NLT).

At certain times, it’s as if God’s nowhere in view. You feel terrible, overwhelmed and deserted. It’s as if you are abandoned when you need help most. In the verse above, Paul and his friends had a similar experience. The ship conveying them to their destination had been hit by a hurricane and at a point they gave up every iota of hope that they could be saved.

But at this most-critical time God sent his angel who said: ‘…Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you’ (Acts 27:24, NLT). Paul thought that it was the end of his ministry, but God took them to their destination despite the storm.

Are you in the middle of any storm? Whatever it is, you can trust God to hold your hand and carry you through it. So realise today that despite the strong and terrible wind, you shall not only come out of it safe, but also with more profound intimacy with God.

At times, it’s as if God waits till the most critical moment before manifesting His awesome presence. I believe He does that to show us that when we feel all hope is gone, He can still restore hope and joy. He doesn’t come late at all. I pray He will surprise you in a most profound way in the journey of this month. In Jesus mighty name!

Today’s corporate prayer: O God of the eleventh hour, prove your power in my situation today. In the mighty name of Jesus!
