Grace Handling Threats

After they prayed… they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly (Acts 4:31, NIV).

There are times we face threats. Somebody or some people might, by the virtue of his position or power; try to intimidate you, make you live in fear, feel helpless, surrender to unpalatable circumstances or rob you of your right to freedom and breakthroughs. Such threats could be physical or have a spiritual undertone. In reality, threats are inescapable especially when you are a true child of God. And at such, they should be expected in different forms.

Do you remember king Hezekiah? He was threatened by a very powerful king. In fact, in terms of military strength, there was no way he could have handled King Sennacherib of Assyria. But what did Hezekiah do? He turned to God in prayer (II Kings 19:14-19). In prayer he received the word of the Lord which encouraged him (v20-34) and gave him victory (v35).

Daniel too was threatened. There was a conspiracy against him just to demote him from his exalted position of greatness and honour in the land of Babylon. Daniel knew that his only source of victory was to bring God into the situation. So to dare the conspirators, he opened his windows and prayed. His prayers eventually brought him victory over all his enemies.

Not even the Disciples were free from threats. The religious leaders of their day could not cope with the mighty move of God in their lives. They threatened to deal with them if they ever preached Jesus to anyone again. But the disciples came together, prayed and were filled by the Holy Spirit with boldness at a level that their enemies’ threats couldn’t handle. Beloved, are you being threatened by anyone or any situation? Panic is a shortcut to defeat, while fervent prayer is your surest way to victory. I pray, receive unequalled boldness against all satanic threats. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: I dismantle every threat against my life, career, ministry, marriage, finances, business and health. In the mighty name of Jesus!
