Redeemed

‘I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, And like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you. (Isaiah 44:22; NKJV).

To redeem is to recover ownership of something or someone, by buying it back. It also means to save, rescue or release from debt or blame. It means to reform, to restore the honour, worth or reputation of someone. It equally means to reclaim or to liberate someone by paying a ransom. Now if God says He has redeemed you, that means He has done all the above things for you.

Of course, you can’t be talking about recovering the ownership of something if it didn’t belong to you in the first place. Neither do you reclaim a thing if didn’t belong to you earlier. There are many folks who were connected with God until they allowed sin and carelessness to disconnect them from Him.

But from our opening text, God said that He has addressed the issue of your transgressions and sins. No man has the power to redeem himself. Man was born a deficit. He can’t deliver himself from sin no matter how hard he tries. He finds no freedom until he returns to God.

The Lord said: “I have blotted out your transgressions and sins like a thick cloud.” Sin is the major thing which strengthens the enemy’s power over God’s children. The enemies keep holding one as a hostage until God shows up. And He has spoken. He said, “…I have redeemed you.”

That means He has released you from debt or blame. He has paid your debt! He has rescued you from the enemy’s prison! He has reclaimed you by paying the necessary ransom! He has restored your honour and reputation! Hallelujah!

But that’s not all. The Lord said, “…Return to me, for I have redeemed you.” You are not set free to start roaming around aimlessly in life. You are redeemed so that you can return to God and fulfill His divine agenda for you. You must stay connected to Him by constantly shutting out all satanic distractions from your life.

Why don’t you take a day or two off your ‘busy’ schedule to strengthen your reconnection to Him? You can actually spend such time studying God’s word, praying, fasting and connecting to Christian programmes. I pray; now that you are redeemed, may you not be reduced again. In Jesus name!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: Powers that make me lose my bearing in life, lose your grip upon me. In the name of Jesus!
