Carelessness

Carelessness Carelessness

Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation…’ (Matthew 26:41 NKJV).

One of the things that drain the presence of God in the lives of His children is carelessness about the things of the spirit. The antidote to this is to watch and pray. There are some folks who were poor but usually prayed every time. They prayed at home and everywhere. In fact, they prayed even when they were in transit. Morning, noon and night they were praying. Sure enough, they started experiencing some comfort and financial open doors. But that was when their prayer tempo dropped and carelessness began to set in.

When king Saul was after the life of David, David was constantly on the run. At that time David was sleeping in caves with one eye closed and the other opened, so to say. He had no time for any woman, let alone fall into the sin of immorality.

But when Saul died and David became the king, carelessness set in. When kings were supposed to be at war, David didn’t go. That was what made him see, from his elevated position, a woman who was bathing herself. He ended up committing adultery with her and nothing was the same afterwards in his life and family.

There are men who had almost nothing but were prayerful. Though they couldn’t afford a decent apartment to live in or three square meals to feed their families, they were committed to the Lord and faithful. Later God began to open doors of financial blessings for them and they started living in well-furnished homes and bought nice cars.

Now their wealth started attracting to them all kinds of ladies whose hearts are devoid of the fear of God. And due to comfort, they weren’t sensitive enough to sense danger. Unfortunately, they fell into the sin of immorality and it was the beginning of complex troubles in their lives, marriages and ministries.

Some people who used to take God’s word seriously now have reasons to modify the word of God to suit their carnal perceptions. Many folks now play and mingle with sin. There are those who believe you can sin for as long as you want. All you just need to do is to ask God to forgive you.

The fire is gradually going out in so many people’s lives because they are losing grip with spiritual realities. The Lord said that in order not to fall into these temptations, we have to watch and pray. May we receive the strength to do this. In Jesus name!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: Lord Jesus, shake every form of carelessness off my life. in the mighty name of Jesus!
