Tongue management

Tongue management

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers (Ephesians 4:29, KJV).

Words can either repair or damage. Surprisingly – whether consciously or unconsciously – many people are not careful when it comes to their utterances. They find it more comfortable to tear others down than to build them. Some folks are so devoid of self esteem that they don’t feel good about themselves until they have put somebody down. How unfortunate!

There is another group of people. When somebody speaks well of a fellow they don’t like, they don’t feel alright until they have passed a derogatory remark about that fellow. Some people have actually uttered things that they were later ashamed of, when everyone got to know that they said it.

Have you graduated to a point where you see nothing good in others? Do you find it difficult to appreciate others or to say ‘thank you’? Do you censure others and point out ‘everything’ they need to improve on? And how do you expect others to feel about you when they discover that you are an expert at finding other people’s faults, while ignoring yours?

Well, beginning from now; if you are willing to change in this area; feed more on what is good, kind, right, and soul-lifting. Make this a constant practice and your words will start to build others instead of pulling them down.

Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord, prompt me when I am about saying something unnecessary and help me to control my utterances. In the mighty name of Jesus!
