A secret of longevity

A secret of longevity

And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died. (Genesis 5:27, KJV).

One of the greatest blessings of life is longevity; and Methuselah happened the the most-qualified example of it. Many people believe that although Methuselah was the oldest man that ever lived, there was nothing more to his life. But is this really true?

See Genesis 5:22: ‘And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years….’ Actually Enoch had Methuselah when he (Enoch) was 65, and he lived for 365 years. That meant that after Methuselah was born, Enoch had an uninterrupted walk with God for 300 years!

This is the point. Methuselah was a kind of child that made it easy for his parent to walk with God. Not many children make spiritual walk easy for their parents. Instead, by being wayward, criminal, delinquent, ungodly, unsubmissive, negligent, uncaring and disrespectful, they make it difficult for their parents to serve God with concentration. Some children are a thorn in the flesh of their parents.

Is it then surprising that God blessed Methuselah with the gift of long life? Do you remember God’s promise to children who honour their parents? It shall ‘…be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth’ (Ephesians 6:3, KJV). Do you want to live well and have a long life, as Methuselah did? Then, honour your parents and make them happy.

Today’s corporate prayer: Any seed of the enemy, growing in my life; assigned to shorten my life, be uprooted! In Jesus mighty name!
