Little foxes

Little foxes

‘For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it’ (James 2:10, NIV).

I watched a beloved sister recount an experience. She conceived and lots of negative revelations came about the pregnancy. But she was delivered safely of the baby. Later, she had to call for medical help when she started having ‘gas trap’. She visited the hospital immediately and different drugs were ‘pumped’ into her body. She felt better and was discharged. But days later, in the middle of the night, her tongue started itching and getting bigger until she started having difficulties breathing.

She made for the emergency unit and was immediately moved to the theatre room. About fifteen doctors surrounded her. Each one was proffering possible solutions. Unfortunately, amidst this confusion, she passed on. She saw her spirit leave her body and looked at her own lifeless body on the bed. She spoke to the doctors but no one heard her. She tried to touch some of them but her hand just went through them.

She saw ghosts that were more in number than those alive in the hospital. They told her that the doctors could no longer hear her because she was dead and that they were spirits floating around in the air. She argued with them that she was not dead but they laughed at her because that was the same way they argued when they just died too. Then a very handsome man came, held her hand and off they went. As they flew up through a dark ‘tunnel’, she noticed that the earth kept getting smaller and smaller until it was as small as an egg!

They passed through the first and second heavens. She saw the moon, the star and other elemental bodies. They finally got out of the tunnel but it was still very dark. The man introduced himself to her as the spirit of death. Another man now appeared who called her by her name. He started reading from Psalm 24. On getting to “Lift up your heads, O ye gates…”, his wings flung open and a bright light shined forth. Then she saw an elderly woman, who died earlier, praying: “Have mercy on her, show her your grace…”

When her works were weighed she didn’t qualify. The beautiful gate closed and everywhere turned dark again. Her only option now was the second gate, which a lot of people were walking through ignorantly. She saw a sister who did a lot of good deeds and served in the church. However, her unrestrained anger took her to hell. Then the angel said that she too would have to join that other sister in hell because there was somebody she too didn’t forgive wholeheartedly. The serious prayers being offered on her behalf were her saving grace that brought her back to life. If not, that’s how she would have ended her life in hell. Dear friend, nobody knows his last moment. Is there something that will hinder us from receiving God’s welcome? May God help us to deal with it.

Today’s Corporate Prayer: O Lord, help me to do away with all my entanglements. In the mighty name of Jesus!
