My Secret Sin (Part 2)

My Secret Sin (Part 2)My Secret Sin (Part 2)

By the time I arrived at the church that evening, I suddenly became reluctant about giving my pastor the resignation letter. I changed my mind, do you want to know why? I will tell you, our youth coordinator preached a message on “Idleness”.

He made a statement that made me change my mind, he said and I quote “the idle man is the devil’s workshop”. He also said, “as many that are struggling with sins are guilty of idleness, he even added that “you can’t be busy with God’s work and struggle with secret a sin”.

He also added that people who are suffering are only suffering because they give the devil space and time, “get busy my friend, get busy with God’s work”. Those were the exact words of our youth coordinator that evening.

I couldn’t help wondering, but I’m busy with God’s work. Or maybe I just needed to do more so I decided to join the follow up team and the ushering unit. I figured that if I didn’t have any spare time on my hands that way I will be free. That was what I thought.

That evening, I went back home with my letter. I thought I had finally found a solution to my problem, oh what a relief! When I got home that evening I went to the store room to take back my choir uniform that I had already dumped.

Yes, I dumped the uniform in my store room so I would be tempted into going back on my decision. But since I didn’t get to tender my resignation from the church work force anymore, I had to take it back from the store room. Afterwards, I also shredded and trashed the letter.

I was so happy that night, I felt I had finally found a solution. The next day, which was Wednesday, I went to the church and joined the follow up team. They were surprised to see me because they knew about my hatred for walking long distances. Nevertheless, it was a price I was willing to pay in order to be free.

That day, we set out on our journey to visit some of the new church members who needed to be followed up. We walked a very long distance that day, we went to many places I’ve never knew they existed. We visited many church members and new converts. You really need to see the way I was sweating that day. I came back home tired and famished, I managed to prepare something to eat and slept off.

I woke up very early on Sunday morning, did my quiet time and prepared for church service. That morning, I was the first person to arrive at the church. I quickly went to where the church brooms are kept, took one and started sweeping. As I was sweeping, I was just smiling because I felt this was the solution to my problem. The good part of it all is that I noticed that I didn’t commit this secret sin since the day I decided to be extra busy for God. This fact made me extremely happy.

I was still smiling when I heard a voice very clearly. I was left totally confused and shocked after hearing this voice. Do you want to know what I heard?
