Objects of his mercy
…he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory – even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles (Romans 9:23, 24, NIV).
We are objects of His mercy, says the word of God from our opening text. Mercy is to get pardon when one deserves punishment. God has made us His own by divine mercy. We were not His people, but now He calls us “My people”. We who were not His people are now called “sons of the living God”! (Rom. 9:25, 26).
Mercy can bring about a lot of positive changes indeed. It makes the reduced to be redeemed. It makes the stagnated to be liberated. It causes the demoted to be promoted. It turns ‘zeros’ to heroes. Mercy makes impossibilities possible.
Mercy provokes heavenly grace. Mercy keeps you going after your own strength is exhausted. Even when its fuel has been used up, mercy keeps the vehicle of your destiny going. Mercy is why God has not given up on you. Mercy rearranges a person’s life after the devil has disarranged it. It gathers back all the good things the enemies have scattered.
Mercy makes a high flyer out of a mediocre. It locates the unrecognized and makes him a household name in no time. Mercy removes a man from the back seat of life and puts him at the front. It takes a man from the bottom and relocates him to the top; making him the topic. Mercy gives a person favour even before asking for it. Mercy indeed puts an end to suffering and struggling in the life of a man.
Mercy shields a man from evil. It turns obstacles to miracles; and turns demotion to promotion. You need to connect to the God of mercy whose mercies endure forever over His own. When God shows His mercy to His children, their enemies will be put in perpetual trouble (Psa. 136:10-24). One can ask for God’s mercy in specific areas of needs (Mk. 10:46-52) but we must show mercy to continue to receive the same (Matt. 5:7). May God help us to do this. In Jesus name!
Today’s corporate prayer: As an object of His mercy, I receive uninterrupted connection to divine mercy by faith. In the mighty name of Jesus!
