Receiving His Direction
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5, 6; KJV).
Man can recount the past but he cannot predict the future. Man could draw his plans but God decides if those plans will be executed or not. God wants us to trust in Him. That’s why He often keeps the full picture of the future from us.
If we could see the future some of us would be too afraid to face the tough times ahead, while others would become proud due to the great achievements and glory lying ahead.
Man likes to be in control of his life, and other’s lives. He wants to be in charge of when he sleeps, wakes up or gets to work. He wants to decide where to be and what to do at any given time. He loves to get whatever he desires, anytime and anywhere he wants it. But when things don’t go as man plans, he feels God is maltreating him or has forsaken him. That is not actually so.
God’s direction doesn’t come like a searchlight that brightens man’s whole path at once. Rather it comes more often like a flashlight that gives you just enough illumination to take the next step. Though He has a glorious plan for you, God doesn’t reveal everything at once. This is to train us to learn to trust Him for each move we make. So, if you need his directions, put the totality of your trust in Him. May God’s grace help us. In Jesus mighty name!
Today’s Prayer: I receive the grace to trust God even when I don’t understand His full plans. In the awesome name of Jesus!
