The set time

The set time

You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favour her, Yes, the set time has come (Psalm 102:13, NKJV).

The Bible says man can make many plans, but (only) the Lord’s purpose will prevail (Prov. 19:21). Some of our plans will work out as planned and others won’t. All your past years and struggles can be because of a particular divine reason which only God fully understands. So when it comes to determining when a person, family or people will receive certain favour or blessings, it might be up to God.

David was anointed as king by Prophet Samuel. But despite that it took years of different battles before David sat on the throne. Actually, the battles prepared him for the throne. What about Abraham? He got the fulfillment of the promise when he had virtually given up on it. Moses was trained for forty years in the wilderness where he was shepherding animals. This was to prepare him to shepherd God’s people later. These people entered into the blessings of their callings after God had perfected His plans and arrangements for them.

Joseph too wasn’t remembered until after years of struggles and misery. But all those experiences were God’s way of fulfilling His divine purpose in his life. At times God is more interested in your spiritual growth than your comfort; especially if He is preparing you for something quite weighty. Many times, what we see as satanic obstacles may be God’s training ground to toughen us; take away our defects and make us fit for the assignment He has placed in our hands.

We are on God’s training ground but we all have different training programmes. A’s training is different from B’s. It is therefore required that we are prayerful, filled with faith, remain faithful and be ready to carry out His assignment with a high sense of dutifulness. We must learn as fast as possible in God’s spiritual college so that we can graduate at the divinely appointed time. God’s help and mercy will definitely come. But we must remain committed and obedient to Him. Disobedience may make us stay on a training ground for longer than necessary. May God help us not to be found wanting. In Jesus mighty name!

Today’s corporate prayer: I stand against discouragement and compromise with sin. In the name of Jesus!
