Above all blessings
‘Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!’ (Psalm 31:19, KJV).
We receive God’s goodness everyday, everywhere and in every way. We enjoy these goodness in diverse, known and unknown ways. They also come in form of spiritual, material and physical blessings. So it’s not wrong to conclude that God’s goodness is all-encompassing.
But in man’s nature, we tend to appreciate the material and physical blessings more than we do the spiritual ones. Even among Christians, great financial breakthroughs and physical healings are more appreciated than salvation of souls or spiritual healings and restoration. Sadly, prosperity, success and financial open heavens are not the most important blessings we receive from God. They, ironically, take the love of God away from the hearts of unvigilant men.
People usually allow earthly gifts to turn their heart against the Giver. If after gaining the world, a man loses his soul because of mere earthly satisfaction and glory, what shall he use as an exchange for his soul? No amount of money can buy a man’s soul. And that’s the more reason why we must always hold on to God’s hand.
God’s word encourages us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all of His goodness will be channeled into our lives. His first and best blessings come as spiritual blessings; after which physical, material, financial and other blessings follow. Dear friend, above all blessings, God wants to bless you with salvation and eternal life. Will you receive this best gift today? May God help you to. In Jesus mighty name!
