Compassion

Compassion Compassion

And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not’ (Luke 7:13, KJV).

As they moved around spreading the gospel, Jesus and His disciples got to a village called Nain. A crowd also came along. As they approached the village, a funeral procession was coming out. A woman’s only son was being carried out for burial. And the woman was a widow. When the Lord saw her, His heart overflowed with compassion. So, He said to her, “Don’t cry.” He went over, touched the coffin and commanded the young man to get up. And he did!

If not by God’s compassion and intervention, how else could she have been delivered from the devil’s wickedness? She first lost her husband, and now her only son. The woman must have wept and wept. No wonder Jesus told her not to weep again. One could have wondered why calamities would not let her be. There definitely would be friends and neighbours who were doing fine around her. But it’s as if problems kept aiming only at her. Why should she lose her husband, and then, her only son?

There are people today who have myriads of problems. It’s as if they were singled out for problems. But if you are a true child of God, every problem that finds its way into your life will turn out to become a testimony. Imagine that this woman’s son didn’t die, no one would have known about her. And today, her life would not have been an example of a great encounter with Jesus at a most-unexpected hour. Your problems might look spectacular. Your mountain might look insurmountable. But you will be wrong to believe that you are singled out for problems. You are actually singled out for testimonies!

Your problem could have come as a result of your error, carelessness or sin. But that doesn’t mean the problem should destroy you. If you will truly repent and ask for mercy, He will have mercy on you. If certain demons or curses have been programmed to afflict you, you can stand against them in prayers. Weeping or self pity won’t solve any problem. The Lord is compassionate and will locate you, even when you think it’s all over. I pray, whatever has been a source of sorrow in our lives shall expire today. In Jesus name!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: Stubborn roots of my problem (name the problem); dry up! In Jesus name!
