Do not delay

Do not delay

‘…behold, now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation’ (II Cor. 6:2, KJV).

I like to share a personal experience with us today. There was an easy-going elderly man who was fondly called Baba. He had a dispute with a younger neighbour. So they started avoiding each other. This ugly situation persisted for days and then to weeks. I became uncomfortable because we were all living in the same building. Of course you will agree with me that settling some disputes gets more difficult with time.

I felt burdened to intervene except that I didn’t know how to because these two people were way older than I. But as God would have it, Baba happened to be one of my Sunday school students. So, using that avenue, the Holy Spirit helped me to constantly emphasize on the need to “follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see God” (Heb. 12:14).

Whether the topic we were treating was related to it or not, I just found myself always talking about the need to make peace with others. Baba heeded to God’s word. He made peace with his neighbour. I saw both of them exchanging pleasantries and felt happy.

About two weeks later, Baba became sick. To cut the story short, the sickness claimed his life. Tears rolled down my cheeks. This younger neighbour was there and he said he was sure that Baba had gone straight to heaven and that he was a person of God indeed. Later, a few persons testified of seeing Baba in their dreams.

A man said he saw Baba on a white horse and he was dressed magnificently like a king. His wife too later saw him in her dream. She said she saw Baba in a place where the music was more melodious than anything she had ever heard in this world. She didn’t want to leave that place. In fact, according to her, when she opened her eyes she felt so sad that it was a dream and not a reality.

Baba could have missed heaven. He could have died in the grip of unforgiving spirit, but thanks to God that he made peace with his neighbour. Beloved, the only thing that qualifies a man for hell is sin. Are you holding grudges with anyone? Please just let go and let God have His way. All killers, rapists, cheats, armed robbers, idolaters, fornicators, adulterers, witches, wizards, smokers, drug addicts, liars, and so on, need to repent and come to Jesus to escape ending their lives in sin. Godly living or sinful living? Life or death? Heaven or hell? May God help us to constantly make the right choices. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: Father, deliver me from anything that wants to push me into destruction. In the mighty name of Jesus!
