Fearless

FearlessFearless

And now, Lord, look upon their threats, and grant to thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness’ (Acts 4:29, RSV).

If God in His word constantly charges His people not to fear, I guess it’s because He knows that fear is one stubborn opposition we will constantly face. The devil always fears that except Christians fear him, he can’t continually intimidate or manipulate them. So, he does everything to scare and bamboozle them. But haven’t we heard from God again and again? He said, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage, be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the Lord your God is with you…” Joshua 1:9.

The early church had been increasing by the ministry of God’s word. Along the line Peter and John were used by God to make a man who was lame from birth walk. News about this had gone viral. A crowd had gathered and God’s word was being proclaimed to them.

And then, the devil stirred those who were supposed to be ministers of God – priests, temple officials and Sadducees – to arrest Peter and John; and put them in custody. The devil hates it when the word of God is growing and revival is taking place; especially when God is achieving this by using “foolish” vessels to confound the wisdom of the wise.

Thanks to God that Peter and John would not be dazzled by appearances. Despite their lack of academic or theological qualifications, they maintained that they would rather follow what God wanted them to do than to succumb to the intimidation of mere men.

They insisted that “…we cannot but speak what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20). And truly, unlike the so-called “Professors of the Law”, it was undeniable that they had seen the Lord. When they were released they returned to their own allies. Together they prayed down a fresh baptism of boldness upon themselves, after which they gave their antagonists more sleepless nights!

Whatever makes you to stop God’s work is definitely not of God. Whatever makes you feel overwhelmed by the fear of what people say or think about your divine mandate is of the enemy. Every threat over an assignment given to you by the Lord must be reported back to Him, like did Peter and John (and their associates).

Each time you do that, He reassures and refills you afresh with His Spirit and power. And He defends you absolutely. So, neither your walk with God or nor your work for Him should stop. Receive the grace to be unstoppable. In Jesus name!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: We receive the grace to wax stronger for the Lord even in the face of hostile oppositions. In Jesus mighty name!
