Handling Criticisms (Part 2)

Handling Criticisms (Part 2)

Judge not, that ye be not judged (Matthew 7:1, KJV).

Judging things and others come naturally to many people. But the word of God cautions us against judging others. There are people who find faults easily and condemn others. They fault everything and everyone while they give themselves pass mark and tell themselves they are doing fine. Meanwhile, they see others as ‘not-too-good’. Are you too like that?

Are you quick to make negative comments about something or someone? Are you fond of pointing out the errors of others while you ignore yours? Do you stab someone behind his back? Do you condemn and speak evil of any person at all? Do you condemn people in authority? Do you suppose that you are smarter, better, richer, wiser, more beautiful, more talented, more exposed, more educated, more spiritual, more anointed or more experienced than others?

Well, if you think you are free to judge anyone, just make sure you are perfect. Until you are perfect, don’t judge others because God…will treat you as you treat others. (Matthew 7:2).

It’s a judgmental attitude that makes people to oppress others or despise them. Anyone who is fond of oppressing others should expect to be oppressed too by someone else. If you are always hard on others, expect something similar to come to you. If you betray the trust someone has in you, expect to be betrayed too. If you are an ingrate who speaks evil of someone who helped and raised you in your time of trouble, expect the same ‘reward’ from someone you are helping now.

This might sound tough but it is God’s word and the only way to escape this verdict is to ‘judge not’, so that you won’t be judged. May you not be a captive of the spirit of criticism. In Jesus mighty name!

Today’s corporate prayer: I refuse to be a judge over others. I shall help others in every way I can. In the mighty name of Jesus!
